Introduction day @ TU/e

I woke up early in the morning to do the morning stuff. And then, FC went down to bathe while I blogged some more and packed my bags for the day.

I put on all of my 4 layers: my thermals, a full hand tee, and a sweater and the big big jacket on top. All these, topped off with 2 layers of socks (1 normal and 1 winter), and a scarf to shut off airflow into my 4 layers and finally, a mexican tuslan hat! (I think that's what it's called, maybe wrong :P) So, we set off after our breakfast of corn flakes:

And I'm missing one major event that happened during the night: IT SNOWED!!! It was the first time I saw snow falling from the sky onto the ground! Alll this time, I had to put up with the freezing temp of -2 to ~2 deg, without seeing snow. I saw snow falling when I woke up at about 11pm the previous night, but was too much in awe to take any pics. So, I took a pic in the morning while I was waiting for FC to come back up:

See? The entire street was covered with snow! And the rooftops too! The four of us finally packed up and left at 905. FC and I initially wanted to leave at 830 but the other 2 thought it was too early. The argentinian girl, Bellen (I'm just spelling it from the pronunciation) brought her luggages down to the manager's building to move out.

And off the 4 of us went, from our hotel room to TU/e. It was going to be my first view of the school too! It was super fun to step on snow and I loved the crispy sound that it made each time I stepped! :D But it was slippery though, especially the parts where the snow had melted. In this case, walking on snow was the most stable, since the shoe would sink a bit and provide friction. For most parts, the bicycle lane was free of snow but the pedestrian part wasn't. So, we had a strong tendency to walk on the bicycle lane and look out for any bikes that would come by. And then, we came to this road which was completely filled with snow:

and we saw a beautiful church!

And this is the junction just before school!

And the bridge to school! You can see the oval-ish school building in the background! cool, right! never knew that going to school can be so exciting :D But that icy slope was slippery! hahah!

We took 40 minutes, walking without a break all the way! It think it was 3 km on google maps! We found the auditorium on the map and went in! the thing was just starting. We had a place to hang our jackets at a place and went to eat breakfast provided! There was the fruitcake-kinda cake without the fruit flavour, coffee and different kinds of tea! It's supposed to be a dutch Breakfast! We then went to a intro talk:

After that, we had lunch! A traditional dutch lunch! There were several types of buns with cheese and other stuff inside. I managed to find a vegie one with cheese and lettuce, topped with some kind of seed. There were packets of milk, coffee and tea too! So, I had milk. I met up with several people:
I talked to some dutch ppl abt how to take bus, cos the walk was just too long and not knowing how to use the public transport didn't seem like a good excuse for me...
We found a group of NUS SDE students who were at the school of industrial design. Everyone from the other countries seemed to be impressed at how many people there were from the singapore uni! There were a lot of people form turkey too! I randomly talked around with ther people. They all seemed to be very nice people and I didn't sense any discrimination or anything :) they were all very open people! After that, we had another short talk. Then we broke into groups to go on a tour around the campus. here are the pics!! :

people at the sports centrum. And pics of the campus covered in snow. it's really a sight to behold!

Unfortunately, I didn't take too many photos that time... We then went up a bus for a tour around the city! Everybody was tired at this point and I slept a bit on the bus! Johnny beside me slept a bit too! But still, I managed to take some more pics!

Pics of the school first:

The above building was going to be demolished!

And outside, the school:

I saw this cute busstop and the red car has snow on top!

hahah! more pics, refer to my facebook album here: http://www.facebook.com/i.am.yoga?v=photos&ref=profile#!/album.php?aid=142442&id=538741451
I'm just gonna post the super nice ones here. This is the river passing thorough school:

And TU/e isn't complete with a picture of the bowling pins!

And the evoluon centre:

and the phillips stadium! Are you loving Eindhoven ald?

yes you are! look at this busstop with plants growing on top na dplants inside the glass panel behind the people! Not the seperate lane for bikes!

And the bus trip ended with us going over to a pub for a drink! This pub was supposed to be a popular hang-out place for students. I had coffee and soon, we went back to this place near the campus called the SSRE. It seemed to be a place of recreation for the students.

This was our dinner: 2 of those were vegie for me :D

At this time, a reporter was interviewing johnny and another guy. After the dinner, I walked the SDE ppl who wanted to go home till the station. We came across this dog at the central station!

When I was back at the SSRE, FC and the others were leaving too! So, I joined FC back to our hotel. It was a long walk back... We were thinking of taking a bus but the ticketing place was closed and the frequency was bad :( Gigi stayed back in the pub at the SSRE. And when FC and I were almost there, it started snowing! And when we got into our hotel, it rained even more intensely! here: Can't even distinguish the roads and the pavements an the bike lanes here in this pic!

And that was the end of that day!
