For those in NUS, you must have realised by now that CORS does not allow you to log in into its system in between rounds or simply (correct me if i'm wrong) whenever bidding is not going on. but there are some information that is stored in the cors system that is not accesible elsewhere. for example, imagine that you were a non-engin freshie this year and you've been pre-allocated some modules and of course, as with all other 'year 1' mods, these have a high intake. So, these mods often involve several lecture groups. And you see that your engin friends have been preallocated lecture AND tutorial groups.
And so, you want to go on to choose the other mods to fill up your semester but realise that you can't check for clashes until bidding starts, since you don't know which lecture group you have been allocated to. Some faculties, of course are nice enough to inform those who have been pre-allocated, what they have been pre-allocated with via e-mail, but this is not the case all the time. IVLE brings in some info from CORS and it can be manually updated but it doesn't show the lecture groups allocated. Of course, a solution would be to check one's timetable when CORS opens for round 0 or round 1 but shouldn't this info be available to people all the time? And making this info available can save you time during the bidding period, if it happens to be one of your busy days.
A good solution would be to enable people to log in to CORS anytime, but disable the bidding page and the 'add new module' option when bidding is not going on. This issue is present for all who have been pre-allocated mods. They won't be able to check the details of pre-allocation when they can't log in into cors.
